Make room in this order.

  1. 1

    FM endcap Above WK2

Use the currently empty, isolated shelving above WK2 as a dedicated PET MEDS ONLY zone. Column 71 stays in the human-medication run and the amber-vial / liquid-Rx area stays unchanged. The current two PET shelves on FM are empty.

  2. 2

    Current stock locations FM endcap

Move the eight proposed products directly to FM, subject to fit. Leave the existing FM endcap and its azithromycin six-packs in place. Amoxicillin starts on row 4; rows 1–3 hold overstock.

Proposed arrangement. Confirm the shelf dimensions, reachable height, and usable capacity above WK2 onsite. Relocation work is not included in the antibiotic time-saving estimate.

Rows 1–3 · Overstock
Reserve rows 1–2 for amoxicillin/clavulanate 875/125 mg overstock. Row 3 is for amoxicillin 500 mg capsules and cephalexin 500 mg capsules overstock, including 500-count bottles only where they fit. Keep excess in its current storage location.
Row 4 · Proposed moves

Amoxicillin 500 mg capsules

Amoxicillin/clavulanate 875/125 mg tablets

Row 5 · Proposed moves

Cephalexin 500 mg capsules

Sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim 800/160 mg tablets

Row 6 · Proposed moves

Doxycycline hyclate 100 mg capsules

Doxycycline hyclate 100 mg tablets

Row 7 · Proposed moves

Metronidazole 500 mg tablets

Nitrofurantoin mono-macro 100 mg capsules

Eight proposed moves across rows 4–7, starting with amoxicillin 500 mg capsules on row 4. FM row 8 remains unassigned. Existing azithromycin 250 mg six-packs stay on the existing FM endcap.

Verify bottle sizes and quantities on each shared shelf. Earlier estimates of one tray per 500-count bottle or half a tray per 100-count bottle do not confirm fit. Existing azithromycin is excluded from savings.

Regular shelves: Clindamycin 150 mg capsules; Clindamycin 300 mg capsules; Levofloxacin 500 mg tablets. Excluded from the FM endcap and its savings estimate.

Every Thursday · Check dates, then restock

Check delivery and existing-stock expiry dates. Move earliest-expiring usable stock down and to the front; put later-expiring stock behind it. Keep surplus in rows 1–3. Rotate by expiry date, not delivery date.

Route and daily savings

Default one-way routes: 17.5 ft current → 2.5 ft proposed. The current value is the midpoint of the owner’s 15–20 ft estimate; the proposed value retains the WK4-to-FM planning reference. WK5 also fills amoxicillin, but this is not a measured or weighted WK4/WK5 route. Both distances need measurement. Walking speed defaults to 3 ft/sec and step length to 2.5 ft.

10.0 secsaved per retrieval round trip360 stepssaved per product/day, including returns40.0 minsaved across 8 products/day

Retrieval per product/day: 2 × (17.5 − 2.5) ft ÷ 3 ft/sec × (15 ÷ 1) retrievals = 150.0 sec.

Returns per product/day: 1 dedicated return(s) × 150.0 sec = 150.0 sec.

Use dedicated returns or shared go-back detours, never both. The animation illustrates one return; calculations follow your inputs. Negative values mean extra walking. Handling and filling time are excluded.

From daily minutes to annual time

5.00 min/product/day × 8 products × 365 days ÷ 60 ≈ 243.33 hours/year.

243.33 hours × 60 × 1 Rx/min ÷ 15 Rx/page ≈ 973 QP pages/year.

All products share the selected volume and route savings; this is a planning scenario, not a measured dispensing mix. At 10–15 fills per product/day, the same inputs give 26.7–40.0 minutes/day across 8 products. Team totals are not multiplied by headcount.

Value of the same saved hours

243.33 hours × $45.02/hour ≈ $11,000/year.

The rate is an equal-weight average of technician ($19.16) and pharmacist ($70.88) hourly base pay. It excludes benefits, taxes and overtime. This values time available for other work, not cash savings.

Pay input sources

Default rates are historical Ventura CVS estimates from Indeed: technician and pharmacist. Recorded September 18, 2026; four postings per role. They are not verified payroll. Replace them with your team’s rates.

Setup and relocation time are excluded from these recurring walking-time estimates. Displayed pages and hours round to whole numbers; dollar value rounds to $100. Calculations use unrounded inputs.

Replace estimates with measured inputs

Review completed fills for each exact drug, strength and dosage form over 20–30 representative open days. Exclude reversals, cancellations and duplicate partial fills. Measure walked routes, fills served by each retrieval, and non-overlapping shared-return detours. Use aggregate counts; no patient records are needed.

Confirm bottle quantities and shelf fit onsite. The 3D scene is conceptual; fixture sizes and positions do not establish walking distances or installation dimensions. The demo queue is fictional. Measure before and after the move using the same method.

The default 2.5-ft route retains the WK4-to-FM reference; WK5 also fills amoxicillin. This proxy needs onsite measurement. Confirm routes, volume, fit and pay. Shared detours must not overlap across products. Setup and relocation time are excluded. Totals use unrounded inputs; displayed pages/hours round to whole numbers and value to $100. The shared stock bottle still has to go back.

Unlike a package dispensed whole, a shared antibiotic bottle stays in the pharmacy: retrieve it, fill, return it, then get back to production. Repeated across products and days, that routine adds up.
